The cold

It was colder,
And somehow it didn't matter,
The layers getting thinner,
Even as everyone shivered,
I wondered why it affected them,
Not me,
And then I remembered,
It was the reasons best forgotten,
I slept alone now,
The cold my only companion.

It's midnight,
I'm feeling down,
Didn't want to fall so hard,
But it's too late,
I'm already on the ground,
I won't take it back,
And say we were wrong,
Time was a bitch,
And I just couldn't be strong,

And it's either find a way,
Or it's all a lie,
