I have returned

I thought I'd miss you,
Really,
In the days that followed,
Hollow-eyed,
I remembered you,
And all that transpired,
Between this year and the last,
I stopped being,
For a while,
I let you get the better of me,
I became yet another victim,
Self-blaming,
Hurting,
A whinging child,
And then one day I woke up,
Realized the cage was gone,
Then I flew alone,
Out to the skies I missed once,
I have returned.
