Puppy -> Dog

I remembered the day,
I carried you home,
Nestled in the crook of my arm,
Warm and soft,
Trusting,
Eyes of molten liquorice,
That radiated love,
The cold wetness of your nose,
As you cuddled a little closer,
To a surrogate mother,
That would be there for the years ahead,
For walks and baths,
And your naughty pee escapades,
How many years down the road have we come?
From a soft white pup,
To this handsome one,
Who looks at me,
With his head cocked as if listening,
Out of the litter,
You were my chosen one.
