Poisoned Love

You lie and lie,
Even when your eyes,
Were clear and pure,
As the summer sky,
And every word,
Coated in honey that you poured,
Was laced with arsenic,
Oh darling,
I savoured every drop,
You almost killed me,
With your choking love,
And while I was dreaming,
In a sweet poison haze,
There you were scheming and scheming,
To be what you called 'free',
And escape my love,
That you felt was a dreary maze,
Oh darling,
I believed your every word,
How stupid I was then,
To trust in your poisoned love.
