The Fox - Part IIII

A low whine escaped from his throat as he felt the soft wetness licking his head and slicking back his fur. It had been a while since he had been taken care of. His years as a cub were long gone. His eyes opened slightly as the pain came rushing back to him. Everything hurt. Sea green eyes met his own as he turned his head to face the source of the wetness. If he could have moved, he would've jumped out of the hole in the ceiling above him. Emi was staring at him. The stern look on her face silenced his excuses even before he had begun to spin them. There would be no avoiding her questions this time.

He sat before her, his hair the colour of autumn foliage covered his forehead and ears in silky waves. Judging from the distance that he had fallen from and the stiffness in his movements, he was probably feeling like hell. Emi would've felt sympathetic towards him if not for the fact that she didn't know how he ended up on the roof of her rented house. As it was, she had a feeling that he wasn't all that he seemed to be. There was a niggling feeling of unease that sat in her stomach, like a knotted ball of worry that just wouldn't go away when he started explaining why and how he had gotten on the roof. At first, she had dismissed it as paranoia. By the end of his explanation, she thought she was crazy. Or he was. She couldn't very well believe that she had a fox spirit sitting in front of her. Or that a guy had just dropped out of the sky, through her roof, and still survived. Or that he was even a fox spirit.
