Just a little piece of heaven,
A little fragment of love,
What a recuperating heart needed,
Mail-ordered and sent from above,
Nothing too complicated,
Not exactly Romeo and Juliet,
Just a simple love story,
Between two hearts that met,
She was more than a little broken,
He was more than ready to give,
Late night talks and laughter,
Evolved into something big,
Eventually she realized,
That not all guys were jerks,
And he began to feel butterflies,
Whenever he looked at her,
But still she was hesitating,
He knew she had been hurt,
So he puzzled over,
How not to make things worse,
So one cold rainy evening,
(For she loved rainy days),
He nervously stumbled into the building,
Where the love he treasured lay,
She was surprised to see him,
But she smiled like the sun in May,
He handed her a letter with all he could not say,
The words that would have died unnoticed,
On his pale, numbed lips,
Poured out in a flash,
On paper lined in blue and red,
On that lightly scented sheet,
She cried as she read it,
Two streaks of tears that fell,
He couldn't stand the heartache,
He knew she felt so well,
The letter was forgotten,
He rushed to hold her close,
For once she didn't object,
And you know how the story goes,
So fairy tales may not exist,
But that doesn't mean love's a lie,
Just be patient and wait,
For just a little while,
Up in heaven God is writing,
The story that your love will be,
Someday you'll find the one,
Although right now,
It seems like there's no guarantee.
