Rain of pain

The universe stops a little while,
Holds its breath,
Shudders at the wait,
Exhales in a violent sigh,
And trembles at the sight,
Of a hundred mountains shaking,
Of seas roiling,
Earth shaking, quaking,
Of lives breaking,
Until all is calm again,
Catastrophic desire sated,
And we see rainbows at the end,
Of the rain of pain.
